My name is John Williams, the founder of a new charity called Challenge.
As a great man once said “I have a dream”. I too have a dream which I would like to share with you. A dream in which we create a place where fear gives way to courage, constraint gives way to freedom and tears give way to laughter.
On many occasions in my life I have been touched by individuals that defy the odds, who battle to survive in the face of adversity and look death square in the face and fight. The spirit of the human soul is breathtakingly powerful when given a reason to survive. It’s this fighting spirit that has inspired me to create a centre of challenge and inspiration for our bravest heroes, family and friends who defy the odds and refuse to give in.
For some time now I have been working on the design of this wonderful place with truly awe inspiring features. Features and challenges that would test the resolve of any would-be adventurer yet designed specifically to inspire and promote activity and movement in those who find it most difficult.
The centre that we plan to build is a world’s first and has been designed to accommodate people from all walks of life with the most severe disability, be it physical or emotional. It will boast under a single roof, a plethora of indoor adventure sports including, sky diving, scuba diving, rock climbing, surfing and swimming. It will be a place where people can undertake exciting physical activities, unhampered by their disabilities and experience the exhilaration of living life to the full.
If you visit the vision section of the website you will see more information about all the wonderful features and facilities we have planned for the centre.

All of this and much more can be achieved, but we need your help to build it.
I, and my fellow fundraiser Keith Cornick, have taken on the responsibility of raising the money to build this amazing new facility. To launch the start of this mammoth fundraising journey and after months of gruelling endurance training, we are taking on a monumental two week physical challenge. We would like to ask you to support our effort by making a personal or corporate pledge and help us make a real difference.
We will be organising lots of fund raising events and will be delighted if you would like to sponsor one of our events or organise one of your own to help us raise the money we need to turn this dream into a reality.
The charity will be actively running lots of programmes and events from our Centre in Truro in beautiful Cornwall and you may like to help us raise money for the centre by attending one of our Challenge programmes. Full details of the programmes and events that we run from the centre can be seen in the What We Do section of the website. All profits from our programmes and events will help us build our centre of challenge and inspiration.
One of the aims of our centre is to teach people of all ages, a range of life skills to empower them to live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives. The human spirit is fed in many ways, and happiness is a very individual thing but people generally want to make a positive difference, to help each other and to use their talents for the common good. It is our intention to define people by their ability rather than their disability and to create a place where this is possible. Every person is disabled to some extent be it physically, emotionally or spiritually but every person is equally gifted with unlimited potential and an ability to make a real difference on this planet. Our centre of challenge and inspiration will offer life changing programmes and experiences to help people live the best possible life, a safe place where all barriers to success are removed, a place where everybody is given equal opportunity regardless of age, gender race or disability.
Within the Centre of Challenge & Inspiration we will have a food clinic and a weight management centre that offers a combination of physical, psychological and nutritional support to help people maintain good health. Our aim is to help people make the lifestyle changes needed for their wellbeing and health, both physical and emotional. Food and nutrition are not the same thing and we will be teaching people how to eat for both pleasure and health.
We will be running a weight loss challenge and will be engaging as many people as possible to join in and get people to sponsor them to lose weight and raise money to build the centre. If you are interested in being part of this challenge please get in touch with us.
We have lots of exciting Challenge programmes for leaders, teams, individuals and children. Again, full details can be found in the What We Do section of the website.
If you have ideas for fundraising on behalf of our charity or you would like to make a donation we will be delighted to hear from you.
